Do We Still Need To Observe The Sabbath?
So far, we have discussed the first, second, and the third commandment. We will now discuss the fourth, the last commandment in the first tablet of the 10 Commandments. It is written in Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. This is reinforced in Exodus 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death. Let me repeat what God said: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death. No wonder why we get sick, get old, and die, because we take for granted the day that God blessed and sanctified, and we have the courage to say we love God. But, which day is the Sabbath day?
If you really love God you should find out what God wants and if it matches your church's commands then fine. What if it they do not match? These churches are supposed to lead people to salvation. The Bible says Sabbath is the seventh day of the week. The Roman Catholic church says it is Sunday. When you look at our calendar, Sunday is the first day and Saturday is the seventh day. If you believe in the Bible a question will rise in your mind. Are the 7th Day Adventists correct to say it should be Saturday? I used to believe they were correct, based on the fact that Emperor Constantine decreed in the year 321 that the Sabbath should be changed from Saturday to Sunday.
Then I remembered when I was young I wondered why the first day of the month does not start with the New Moon when the word "month" came from the word "moon". Another thing that really bugged me is the fact the calendar days are named after Pagan gods while the Bible only speaks about the first day, 2nd day, the third day, the fourth day, the fifth day, the sixth day, and a special name Sabbath assigned to the seventh day. Now I understand why. The Bible and the decree of Constantine are not talking about the same calendar. The Bible is talking about the Hebrew calendar while the decree of Constantine is talking about the Julian calendar which has now become the Gregorian calendar that we use. So, it is very plain to see that whether you worship on Sunday or Saturday you are still in rebellion against the creator of the universe and the source of life that makes you alive and raises you from the dust where you came from.
Should we still observe the Sabbath Day? Yes, the Bible say "forever" (Exodus 31:17). Should the month start with the New Moon? Yes, it should start with the dawn immediately after the new moon to be exact. The first day of the week though should start on 2nd day of the month as explained in our video clip above. It is clearly said in he Bible (Isaiah 66:23) (Psalms 104:19), and that is the only way we will remember the Sabbath day as stated in the fourth commandment (Exodus 20:8).
It is very plain to see that those who teach that the Sabbath does not anynore apply are leading people toward death, not everlasting life with our Savior. It is still a matter of personal choice though. If you do not want to identify yourself with the sign between YaHuWaH and His people, so be it. That will mean you are the people of another god, you do not love the God of Abraham. It is death that you love (Proverbs 8:36).
