The Power Of God In Us |

Last Sabbath, I talked about how God placed His image in us, fixed a silver cord that serves as a lifeline from Him to us, and assign a guardian angel to protect us since we were born. That means we are supposed to be invincible by virtue of God's presence inside and around us. The fact that we all get sick, get old and die illustrates how powerful we are in contradicting that life giving presence. I called it short circuiting our Godly power. We are as powerful as God in the sense that we are able to neutralize His presence. What makes heaven what it is is that no one contradicts the will of the Father there. That makes obvious what makes the earth a lesser heaven. The image of God that is in you and me is being suppressed, contradicted and rejected. The power that is in us is well illustrated in the Bible. Matthew 14:31 - And immediately This is an example of how we use the power of God in us against us. In this verse, Peter neutralized the power of our Saviour by mere doubting. On the other hand, we can do better than that. A woman forced herself through the crowd so she could touch the garment of our Saviour believing that she would be well by doing so. She was right her bleeding was healed instantly. Mark 5:34 - And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction." The big difference between Peter and the woman was that Peter doubted, while the woman had strong faith. In other words, Peter used the power of God's image in him against him, while the woman used it to heal herself. The power of the mind is as powerful as God's,: Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. But it can work both ways. It can preserve us by faith or destroy us by doubt, fear, and unbelief. Our faith now is only in words, not in deed. |
