Our Divine Self |
I taught Ethics in the Philippines 15 years ago. My reference book for the class was the Bible. At the start of the semester, I would ask my students why was the Ten Commandments written on two tablets instead of just one? The answer is that the first tablet is about love for God and the second tablet is about love for neighbour. Our beloved Saviout spoke about this:
Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
The first tablet lists the ways by which God wants to be loved: You shall have no other God before me; Don't worship idols and images; Don't take His name in vain; remember the Sabbath day.How about the second table:
Mark 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Take note of that part saying: "And the second is like." That is another reason the commandments were written in two tablets. That means the two tablets are of the same level of importance. If the Ten Commandments were written in one tablet, love of God will be written above and over love of neighbor. You cannot love God without loving your neighbor. You cannot love your neighbor without loving your God.
I was asked why should we love God. I answered: "Because it is ungrateful not to:"
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
That image is in you and me. It is the breath of life that makes all of us alive.
Genesis 2:7
And the LORD Yahuwah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
This happened in Eden. It is happening now in the mothers womb 4 to 5 times every second all over the world. That is why we have to love our neighbor as our self, because the image of God is in them too.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
He is the bread which is His body and the wine which is His blood, the image of Yahuwah the father in Heaven with you and me, all of us. He told us to drink His blood and eat His body, as demonstration of acceptance, full acceptance.
Are we eating and drinking. Yes, but we throw it up in our death bed. That is why 2 people die every second all over the world.
