Protestants |
In the 16th Century, believers of Jesus Christ called protestants separated from the Roman Catholic Church. The split was called Reformation. They are distinguised into major sects called: Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Anglican, and Reformed. Most of them emphasize the authority of the Bible. They believe that the Bible is the complete and inerrant word of God. So, the strongest reason of the split was that ordinary people are not able to read and understand the Latin Bible.
To make the word of God known to ordinary people, the Geneva Bible was born in 1560. The Old Testament directly translated from Hebrew and Aramaic was integrated with the New Testament translated from Greek texts. The Geneva Bible was known to be portable, affordable, easy-to-read typeface. It also included extensive Calvinist marginal notes. This marginal notes displeased Kind James I because of its tone:
The King James Version of the Bible was born in 1611, without the marginal notes of Calvin. It is now the most popular Bible version in use. In other words, there are no big translation issues between the Geneva Bible and the King James Version. It was the marginal notes of Calvin that made the difference, which we do not see anymore in the King James Version.
What does this mean? It means that fundamentally, the Protestants did not really rebelled against the Roman Catholic Church. By fundamentally, I mean the will of the Father in Heaven and His Son, our Saviour. Actually, the Roman Catholic Church continued the rebellion of Israel taking the name of the Father in vain by making God believers forget His name for "Adoni" which now appears as "the Lord" in the Bible.
Even the 7th Day Adventists who say they are following the Fourth Commandment of remembering the 7th Day Sabbath, are actually continuing the Roman Catholic rebellion by remembering Saturn's day of the Gregorian Calendar. The Sabbath day in the Hebrew Scriptures is based on the moon cycle by starting the month on the New Moon:
Psalm 104:19
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down
declares its coming.
Isaiah 66:23
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one
sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD
Yahuwah.
Remember what our Saviour said:
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
This world may make it difficult for us, but we can start re-orienting our mind and heart to what the Father and the Son really are saying in the Scriptures.
