When the Serpent told Eve that she would not really die if she ate the fruit of the tree of the acceptance of good and evil, she could have taken another option instead of following the suggestion. Considering that the suggestion was in direct opposition to God's instruction, and that she was warned that she would surely die, she could have opted to resist the temptation. This can be applied to our present situation. Let's examine the following verse: Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Paul seems to tell us that the ordinances laid down by Yahuwah through the Prophets have been abolished by Yahuswah's dying on the cross for our sins. We can now forget about the Sabbath, bow to lifeless idols, forget about His name, and eat any food we like including those prohibited in the Bible. There seems to be a problem with that if we refer to: Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. He also said: Matthew 5:18 “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one title will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Just like Eve, we are caught between two instructions. In our case today we are caught between the words of our Saviour and the words of Paul. Unlike Eve we need to insist on the instructions of our Saviour, assuming Paul is contradicting the words of Yahuswa. Why do I say assuming? It is possible Paul's words have been translated erroneously, like the mistranslation of the word to "knowing" instead of "accepting"; or the translation of Yahuswa to Jesus; or the translation of "Elohim" to God instead of "the Gods." Furthermore, Paul seems to be contradicting himself in: Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Collosians 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Paul says that the ordinaces on meat, drink, holiday, new moon, or the Sabbath days are a shadow of the things to come, that the body is Yahuswa who is to come again. That means we need to walk in the shadow of Yahuswa to get ready for His coming. Our beloved Saviour came teaching us in line with the Old Testament. Choosing the teaching that is consistent with the words of Yahuswa is the best option. |
