The Day Of Atonement

We are in the 7th month after Spring in Jerusalem. The first visible crescent of the moon was cited there on September 12, 2026. That was the first day of of the 7th month. Ten days from that, there is an occasion special to Yahuwah.

Leviticus 23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD Yahuwah.

Leviticus 23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

This is a special Sabbath besides the weekly Sabbaths that fall on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of every month. The weekly Sabbaths do not require fasting, only rest from sunrise to sundown. However, if you want to fast every Sabbath or any other day besides the Day of Atonement it is fine. Fasting is an interesting feature of the Day of Atonement and any other day you may chose on top of it. It cleanses our soul and aligns it with the image of Yahuwah in us that makes us alive. Cleansing means erasing the record of sin in our soul, and therefore, avoiding the consequenace that leads to pain, suffering and death. It drives out the evil in man's heart and mind. The Son of God explaining to His disciples about the evil spirit they could not drive out of a possessed man said:

Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Medical practitioners and scientist like: Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, Dr. Mindy Pelz, Dr. Eric Berg, Dr. Alan Goldhamer have now observed and recognized the benefits fasting brings to the physical body. This suggests that when the soul is cleansed, the flesh body goes well.
