There is another special Sabbath that the God of Israel told them to remember. It is called the "Day of Atonement." This is the day of reconcilliation between Israel and their God. In the 7th month of the Biblical year, Yahuwah told Israel to celebrate the 10th day He called the day of atonement: Leviticus 23:27
Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement:
it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls,
and offer an offering made by fire unto Israel should aflict their soul and do a burnt offering. What does "afflict their soul" mean? Isaiah 58:3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. "Afflict the soul" means fasting, and in this particular day it is fasting for 24 hours: Leviticus 23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath. Who in this world fast and rest on the Day of Atonement? Practically, no one, even in Israel. Pain, suffering and death in this world makes sense when we know about this: Leviticus 23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. Leviticus 23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. Satan wants us to go against this will of the Father in Heaven, because Satan wants all of us to die, and the world says amen to Satan. |
